Schools Seeking Program Approval:

For a school's program to be an Approved Educational and Training Program, the following three criteria must be met and maintained, BPC § 4927.5:.

  1. Current, Board-approved curriculum as in compliance with Board regulations, CCR § 1399.434.
  2. Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) approval for school to offer an acupuncture degree program or an exemption from this approval through the accreditation from a recognized regional accreditor.
  3. School and program meet one of the following with the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM):
    1. Currently accredited.
    2. Currently pre-accredited.
    3. A letter of intent to pursue accreditation received by ACAHM. Pre-accreditation status must be received within three years of the date that letter was submitted.

For program curriculum approval, the Application for Board Approval of Curriculum must be submitted for review to the California Acupuncture Board at AcuTraining@dca.ca.gov.

Schools with Current Program Approval: 

The Approved Educational and Training Program Annual Reporting Form should be submitted to the CA Acupuncture Board at the end of every fiscal year.
